Would my baby be ok if I went into labor at 36-37 weeks?

Hi everyone. I have a couple of questions. My 36 week appt was 5 days ago, and I was 30% effaced and fingertip - 1cm diated, then 3 days ago I was at L&D and told that I was 50% effaced and 2-3 cm dialated. I have been having contrax off and on that are painful and have experienced all the signs of labor happening soon except my water breaking. The dr told me I am definatly in early labor since everthing is progressing and changing, but they stopped and I was sent home until they start again, telling me they hope I make it to atleast 37 weeks (thursday). My questions are (1) if any of you have had their baby at 36 weeks, was he/she healthy? what problems did you experience? My oldest was induced for preeclampsia (day before my due date), and my daughter was a stubborn 9 days overdue. (2) is I was told I could take evening primrose oil at 36 weeks to help my cervix ripen, but since I am already atleast 50% would it still be safe? I know I'm only a few days from "full term" but would it increase the chance of me going into labor or would it just help my cervix tone and ripen? I've always heard that it doesnt induce just helps the body focus on what it was already doing.... please only helpful comments, I am not doing anything without talking to my doc first, but would really like some input from other moms.
