Why does my chicken always taste bland even though i season it?

I usually season chicken or drumsticks with the basic seasons: salt, pepper and/ or seasoning salt, but it always taste bland. It never tastes like it has that much flavor. What can I do to spice it up so that its flavorful? Thanks.
