I need an intellectually elite liberal to help me understand why you are upset over high gasoline prices?

This is a enormous disincentive to waste gasoline not to mention a major incentive to conserve it wisely. Why isn't the left elated with the knowledge that innumerable tons of carbon emissions aren't being released into the atmosphere? Should you be celebrating high gasoline prices?
